About the Scania 4 Series
The 4 Series replaced the 3 Series in 1995 and ran until the R Series took over in 2004, with Brazilian production continuing to 2007. Model numbers tell you the engine: 94 is the 9 litre, 114 the 11, 124 the 12, 144 the 14 litre V8 and 164 the 16 litre V8. It took International Truck of the Year in 1996 and a great many are still working in the UK on tipper, plant and agricultural work.

What to check before you order
- The model number is the quickest guide to the engine, so a 124 and a 144 share very little in the driveline.
- Cab parts carry across the whole 4 Series where the cab type matches. A Topline roof will not fit a day cab.
- These are now old enough that good used panels, lights and interior parts are worth more than they once were, and new supply has largely dried up.
